Two Newark men shot in East Orange armed robbery

East Orange police said the men were injured during an apparent armed robbery attempt while walking near the intersection of William Street and Prospect Street at around 1:30 a.m. One victim, a 29-year-old Newark man, was shot three times to the abdomen, while a 40-year-old Newark resident sustained five gunshots to his legs and groin, police said. Three guns were recovered at the scene of the shooting, and officers took two men into custody on handgun possession charges.
