Off-duty corrections officer involved in Newark shooting, authorities say

NEWARK - A clothing store employee was shot in the stomach after an off-duty corrections officer interrupted a robbery Saturday night, authorities said. At 6:25 p.m., the off-duty corrections officer was inside a clothing business located at 427 Orange St. visiting relatives when two robbers entered, Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose said in a press release.
