The problem of dual citizenship

Immigrants take the oath of citizenship to the United States on Nov. 20 in Newark, N.J. Before becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen, immigrants must take an oath that says, in part, "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen." That language seems to firmly establish a principle of "one person, one country."
