Newark police arrest five, seize four guns in separate incidents over weekend

NEWARK - City police seized four illegal guns off the street and arrested five people in a series of incidents over the post-Christmas holiday, authorities said. The arrests began on Friday at around 8 p.m., when officers watched a 22-year-old Kevin Jarrells place a .40-caliber handgun into a trash can in the area of Chapel Street and Riverview Court, according to Newark police spokesman Sgt.
