'One-man crime wave' gets 9 years for resisting arrest by Newark cops

NEWARK - Due to his prior criminal record, a Newark man today was sentenced to nine years in state prison on a resisting arrest charge that normally carries a maximum prison term of five years. Referring to Darnell Reed as a "one-man crime wave," Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Edwab convinced Superior Court Judge Robert Gardner to grant the state's application for an extended term.
