A corrections officer at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to smuggle cigarettes and other contraband into the jail. NEWARK - An Essex County corrections officer pleaded guilty on Thursday to accepting a $1,000 bribe in exchange for smuggling contraband to an inmate at the Essex County Correctional Facility, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
