Man shot in the leg in Newark's South Ward, officials say

Around 11:30 p.m. police were called to the 200th block of Hawthorne Avenue, where they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound on his leg, Newark police department spokesman Ron Glover said in a statement. Police believe the man and two other people were in a third floor apartment when a gunman opened fire, striking the man in his leg, Glover said.
