University of Rio Grande senior Brianna Thomas was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year on Monday, while sophomore Alexis Payne joined Thomas on the All-Conference team and head coach David Smalley was tabbed as the league's Coach of the Year. Thomas, a 5-foot-5 guard from Newark, N.J., was near the top in the conference and nationally in several statistical categories.
