N.J. man loses appeal in 1994 kidnapping, murder of East Orange woman

NEWARK - A man serving four consecutive life sentences has lost an appeal of his conviction in the 1994 carjacking, kidnapping and murder of an East Orange woman. Alonzo E. Hill, 45, formerly of Newark, argued he has received ineffective assistance from his trial and appellate lawyers, in part claiming his trial counsel failed to investigate or call witnesses on his behalf.
