Judge reduces prison sentence by half to 10 years in 2009 fatal shooting in Newark

NEWARK - After a state appeals court ordered a new sentence, a Superior Court judge on Friday cut a sentence in half to 10 years in prison for a man convicted of fatally shooting another man on a Newark street in 2009. Judge Richard Sules re-sentenced Timothy Boyd, 48, formerly of Newark, in connection with the Dec. 4, 2009 fatal shooting of 41-year-old Robert Crook.
