Sending H.S. students to Kearny would save money for taxpayers: East Newark officials

Seeking to save on the per-pupil tuition East Newark pays for its high school-age residents to attend Harrison High School, the local Board of Education has requested that the state Department of Education approve the proposed move. Mayor Joseph R. Smith, who does not sit on East Newark's appointed school board, said the borough, which does not have a high school, should receive the state's decision within the next 90 days.
