A civil case involving the Belleville Board of Education is scheduled to be heard again in Essex County Superior Court in Newark on Jan. 9. Michele DeMartino, the Belleville school district's former athletic trainer, alleged harassment by Belleville district administrators and others connected with the district in a "whistleblower" lawsuit filed in Essex County Superior Court in 2012. DeMartino alleged that administrators retaliated against her, including cutting her position to part-time before she was dismissed, for raising concerns about team physician Michael Russonella.
