One county's trash became everyone's treasure following a new contract for solid waste disposal with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The 22 municipalities in Essex County are expected to save a total of about $5.6 million through the seven-year contract that will continue to send solid waste to the Essex County Resource Recovery Facility in Newark, according to a press release.
