Newark man issued 'death sentence' in ordering shooting during robbery, prosecutor says

NEWARK - With his command from inside a parked car, Marquise Hawkins turned what was supposed to be just a robbery into a murder, a prosecutor told jurors on Tuesday at Hawkins' trial. As Hawkins' two accomplices were robbing four teenagers in Irvington in 2012, Hawkins spotted one of the victims trying to get away and yelled, "Get the one in the yellow jacket," according to Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Edwab.
