Essex sheriff's officers hand out turkeys and trimmings to needy

Members of the Essex County Sheriffs Department descended on Saint John's Soup in Newark this morning in what would be the first of about two dozen locations they would hit as they delivered donated food for the homeless and the hungry. Waiting for them in the driveway was Barbara Maran, director of kitchen who greeted Sheriff Armando Fontoura with a big hug and then took charge of telling him and his team where the food was to be stored in the churches basement.
