Port Authority to address United's complaint on Friday

Port Authority Chairman John Degnan said Wednesday that the agency plans to send a written response to the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday, and a formal response in January, asking the FAA to dismiss the complaint filed by United Airlines claiming the operator of Newark Liberty International Airport charges excessive and discriminatory landing fees. United, the dominant carrier at Newark, said in a Dec. 10 complaint that it wants the FAA to investigate the agency's "exorbitant and unreasonable rates" that the airline says are higher than the rates the agency charges at John F. Kennedy and La Guardia airports.
