NEWARK - Newark mayor Ras Baraka released a letter today that he sent to Acting Education Commissioner David Hespe asking for state intervention into what he called "intolerable conditions" at the Barringer academies. In a letter dated Nov. 19, 2014, Baraka said students were suffering from a host of issues including lacking textbooks, overcrowded classes and classes on core subjects taught by uncertified teachers.
