James Moody deeply connected to musicians playing fest named after him

Jimmy Heath, who will kick off the second annual TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival tomorrow with a free concert at Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, attended Moody's 70th birthday show at the Blue Note in New York in 1995, and watched his fellow saxophonist dole out affection to a seemingly endless line of friends after he finished playing.
